Q1. What is Koo app?

Koo App is a microblogging platform where individuals can voice their opinions in their own mother tongue. People post Koos, which may be a simple text, photo, video or a combination of all types. These Koos are visible to your followers or anyone who searches your profile. In case the community reacts to the content you post, your Koos show up in the trending section.

Q2. What different devices are compatible with Koo?

An internet connection and a mobile or computer will do. The app can be downloaded from PlayStore and A pp Store. If you are someone who loves to use Koo on your computer you can go here.

Q3. What’s a Koo post?

A koo is any opinion expressed in any form such as text, photo, video or a combination of any of these. To post a Koo simply click on the + and you are ready to express yourself. We have another surprise, while inputting any text, simply click on the + and select multiple languages and now you are multilinguist.

Q4. Loved a Koo and want to share it?

Came across something interesting and want to share it with your circle simply click on re-koo and now your circle sees the content.

Q5. Love to express yourself in pictures?

You can upload pictures directly to your gallery by selecting the picture > share > Koo > post. Alternatively, you can do it through the app by clicking on + > > select the picture > post.

Q6. Can I dictate my opinion?

Sure whatever suits you best. You can also dictate your opinion on Koo by clicking on + > 🗣 and voila you are now having a hands free experience. Here is a small detour. Did you know Koo was the first social media platform to release this feature in the whole world?

Q7. Can I edit a Koo?

Yes you can edit a Koo. You can edit a Koo if there has been no interaction from the community. If there has been some views or any engagement then you cannot edit a Koo. Alternatively, you can delete the Koo and post a new one.

Q8. What’s between my feed?

Between the feed we have some profiles that may interest you. These are profiles which the community constantly engages with, they may consist of influencers or any individual whose content demonstrates high engagement.

Q9. Can I customise the colour of the UI?

There are three view customisations currently available namely Dark, Light and System. Dark is where the background of the app is darker and is comfortable for the eyes in low light situations. Light view is a brighter background of the app. System is based on the system settings if dark mode gets enabled on your phone then the same happens on the app. You can change the settings by clicking Profile Picture > ⚙ > Theme.

Q10. What can I post on Koo?

You can post text, video audio or any combination of these. Koo doesn’t encourage any content that is harmful in nature. You can view guidelines. For any content that is against our guidelines we take the necessary actions.

Following

Love someone’s opinion and want to get more updates. You can follow that person and you will get all his posts. You can follow a particular individual by going to the profile > + follow. You can unfollow by going to profile > following > yes.

Q1. Where can I follow?

You can search for handles, import from contacts or by going to the people tab.

Q2. Who is following me?

You can find your followers by going to your profile > followers. The followers can only view your Koos and do not have access to DM etc. If your Gender and Marital status are turned off to the public, they will not be visible to your followers. You can also block certain followers.

Q3. Who am I following ?

You can find the profiles you follow by going to your profile > followers.

Q4. Can I block a follower?

In case you don’t want a particular follower to get your updates you can do by going to your profile > followers > Particular profile > 🚫

Different Tabs on Koo

 

Q1. Feed

This consists of the posts of the people you follow. We suggest you to follow more profiles if your feed looks quite empty.

Q2. People

This tab consists of profiles categorized by various professions and categories. Want to get interesting updates you can go to Interesting accounts. Want to know profiles that the community finds engaging? Go on to the popular section.

Q3. Trending

This tab is a collection of all the highest engaging profiles and Koo that the community absolutely loves. These are koos that are regular and are relevant to the community.

Q4. Videos

You can find interesting videos or stay relevant to today’s happenings through this tab.

Q5. Polls

Get interesting insights from individual polls or organisations polls. We found this tab to be a treasure trove of insights.

Q6. Covid

Right from receiving plasma donations to getting food to the doorstep of the infected, this tab has given some life saving updates for many. Right from health professionals to individuals doing their bit for the infected, this tab consists of many profiles from all over India.

Q7. New

Entering a new platform can seem daunting at first. But we have seen many friendships begin from among new joiners encouraging each other to a very positive experience made by existing users.

In addition to these tabs we have a tab based on current affairs like Olympics, TNPL, Sports etc.

Reported Koos and Accounts

Q1. How can I report a Koo?

You can report a Koo by going to a particular Koo > : > Report Koo. We will take necessary steps if a particular Koo seems to be violating our guidelines. Grievances relating to violation of Rule 3, including grievances by or on behalf an individual or child, relating to exposure of their private areas, full or partial nudity or depicting such individual or child in any sexual act or conduct, must be addressed to the Resident Grievance Officer at [email protected] or emailed to [email protected] or filled at this link.

Q2. How do I report a profile?

You can report a Koo by going to a particular Koo> : > Report user. We will take necessary steps if a particular user seems to be violating our guidelines.

Account Settings

Q1. Edit Profile Picture

You can edit your profile picture by going to ⚙ > Edit Profile > . You can either take a photo or upload from your gallery. In addition to this you can add frames by going to app settings > Edit Profile >⊕, you can select from #Vaccinated, #Plasmadonor or #Readytodonate.

Q2. Set your Gender and Marital status to Private or Public

After filling the details a Koo user can choose to disclose the gender and marital status to other Koo users by setting it to on or off. You can find the settings in App settings > Edit Profile > Gender/ Marital Status.

Q3. Adding a second Account

On Koo you can add a second account to your app. You can do so by going to ⚙ > and input your number/email to get an OTP for your second account.

Q4. Language preferences

Koo is one of the very few apps that allows you to express your opinions in your mother tongue. So far we support 8 languages in India and 1 of Nigeria with more coming soon. We are already testing for other languages and will soon make them available once the issues are resolved. You can change your language by going to ⚙ > 🌐 Languages

Q5. Account Deletion

We are sorry that you want to leave Koo. You can delete your Account by going to ⚙ > Delete. Once requested the account goes in suspension for the next 30 days. This period is given so that if the user wants to use Koo again he can do so. During the suspension if the user logs in the request to delete gets cancelled. After 30 days the account along with all the details are erased from our servers.

Queries

Q1. Why am I not getting notification for DMs?

We have already acknowledged this as a problem. We are working on resolving this and making it available soon.

Q2. My feed is not updating. What should I do?

Feed might not be updating because of the following reasons:
(a) Feed will take a little time to load if you’ve logged in after many days, as in, a minimum of 3-4 days. Please refresh once and wait for sometime and it will be good to go.
(b) Feed is also dependent on the activity of the profiles one follows. In case you are following less profiles we request you to follow more interesting profiles. Also, if you follow someone who doesn’t post regularly then also your feed will not be updated. We would request you to follow who posts actively on Koo. If the issue persists for more than a day, this is not the expected behavior. Kindly drop us an email at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it.

Q3. How can I download images from Koo?

You can download images by clicking on the particular image and ⤓.

Q4. My scrolling is not smooth. Can you help?

Dear user, we are aware of it. For an absolutely smooth experience there needs to be various improvements to be made which are time consuming. We are an early-stage startup, growing rapidly. All the features you have come to love on other platforms along with some unique features will soon be available on Koo. We request you to bear with us for some time.

Q5. Why is the app slow?

In our recent update we have released a fast and better UI. You can do the following to boost the speed. Please check your internet speed, clear your cache files or restart the phone. If the problem still persists, this is not the expected behavior, kindly drop us an email at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it.

Q6. My Followers are decreasing, what should I do?

We do not have any direct role in a user’s activity. Our app is democratic. A users’ following is the reflection of a community’s interests. Kindly drop us a mail at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, for us to check if there is any technical problem from our end. As a suggestion, we request you to post a minimum two quality koos everyday for a very engaging experience at Koo.

Q7. I have applied for verification but there has been no response?

For any verification related queries kindly drop us an email at verifi[email protected] along with your handle. FYI, we have certain guidelines that we have to adhere to in the context of providing verification badges which can be found here. Alternatively, For applying for verification you can go to ⚙ > ‘apply for verified badge option’.

Q8. I want features like Twitter and Facebook

Koo is a year old startup and comparing it with Twitter and Facebook who have been in this world for more than 15 years might not be fair. We have launched many unique features like Multilingual Koos and speak to type features and are the first app in the world to have that feature, we will soon release many more. Stay tuned!

Q9. Why are my Koos not shown in trending hashtags?

Trending Koos are the ones that the community loves and engages with. Koos in trending hashtags are shown on reaction basis and not on ‘how recent a Koo’ is. Although, soon we will release a filter in the feed where you can change your mode from ‘most engaging’ post to ‘Latest’ post. For a better user experience we recommend you to post a minimum of 2 quality koos daily.

Q10. I see a lot of abusive/hateful language. What can I do?

Abusive and hateful language is something we do not encourage on Koo. Our team has their eyes 24*7 on the content coming on the Koo and are proactively removing the posts which don’t comply with our guidelines. We request you to report such language or koos where you observe profanity so that we can take the necessary steps.

Q11. Someone is impersonating me, what can I do?

If someone is impersonating you then report such a profile. To report, go to one of his/her koo and click on the downward facing arrow on the right side of the koo and then select ‘Report User’. In that option, you will find numerous options, out of them select Option – 1, ‘It’s a fake account (They’re pretending to be me or someone else).’

Q12. When is the Dark Mode coming?

Dark mode is available from version 0.92.0 or higher. We request you to update to the latest version. You can now choose between light and dark themes as is your preference. The settings can be found in ⚙ > Themes.

Q13. I don’t find the latest version after I receive a notification of an update. Why?

While releasing a new feature in the app we do not release the app to the max. We do this so that we can rectify some issues and then release the next version to more people. A 100% release happens when we have resolved all the bugs. You could have received a notification of an update but the release would have reached its limit. We usually resolve these issues in days so expect the full release to happen in a few days.

Q14. Why can’t I change my Number or email address?

We don’t allow changes in contact details as a security measure. In case you are facing any issue while adding your contact details for the first time feel free to reach us at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it.

Q15. Why am I not able to change professional details?

We apologize for the inconvenience. We are aware of the issue and the product team has already added this to the pipeline. You will soon be able to change details in the coming updates.

Q16. Why are Koos in my feed repeating?

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this issue. We will soon resolve this issue and make it available to our users in the coming updates. We acknowledge that not all users face this issue and it mainly has to do with the phone build.

Q17. Why is my app getting logged out again and again?

Apologies for the inconvenience. We have solved this issue in our recent updates. We request you to uninstall and then reinstall the app and the app should work fine as it is a side case and not many users are getting affected with it. If the issue still persists, reach out to us at [email protected] with your handle and phone number and we will solve your issue.

Q18. Notifications don’t lead to the actual content?

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this concern. It is not actually an issue. Basically, the notification will take you to the feed which contains many koos and the photo in the notification is from one of those koos and that necessarily could not be the first Koo. So scroll down and you will find the relevant Koo.

Q19. The Search bar is not working properly!

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this issue. We have improved it as compared to our previous versions. We request you to check your internet connection and then use it. If it does not work then reach out to us at [email protected].

Q20. Unable to remove my profile picture!

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this request. Our product and technological team has noted down this requirement and will soon work on it and release it in the coming updates. We request you to bear with us for some time.

Q21. I have deleted the chat but still it is there, why?

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this issue. We will soon resolve this issue and make it available to our users in the coming updates.

Q22. New guest account was created, please remove them!

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this issue. It can be resolved with an easy reinstall and use the phone number which you used for the first time when you created your original account. These newly created accounts will disappear.

Q23. Long videos don’t run, the screen goes off, please help!

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this request. Our product and technological team has noted down this requirement and will soon work on it and release it in the coming updates. We request you to bear with us for some time.

Q24. Accounts deleted are still visible by others even after 30 days!

Apologies for the inconvenience. This is not the expected behaviour from the app. We request you to reach out to us at [email protected] with your handle and phone number linked to it.

Q25.Having Typing issues in Hindi

Apologies for the inconvenience. We have acknowledged this issue and our team is already working on it.

Q26. Selected one language but unable to view the post of other languages

Apologies for the inconvenience. We are aware of this request. Our product and technological team has noted down this requirement and will soon work on it. We request you to bear with us for some time.

Troubleshooting

There is a constant traffic we receive and there might be a delay from our end due to this. We request you do the following, while awaiting our response.

Q1. Not getting any Notifications

A common reason for not receiving notifications is that they may be turned off in the settings. We request you to go to app settings > Notifications and set your preferences. If all the notifications are turned on and you are not receiving notifications we request you to go to phone settings > Notifications > Manage Notifications > Koo and set it to on. If the issue persists, kindly mail us at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it., and we’ll ensure a quick resolution.

Q2. Receiving too many notifications

We request you to go to app settings > Notifications > and set all your notifications off. If you want to totally stop receiving notifications, we request you to your phone settings > notifications> Koo and turn off notifications. If the issue persists, kindly mail us at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it., and we’ll ensure a quick resolution. If you want to partially turn off your notifications where you want to turn off those notifications which contain some new guy joining or participating in a poll, contact us on [email protected].

Q3. Not able to find Dark Mode

We request you to update to the latest version. Once updated you can find dark mode settings in the ⚙ > Themes.

Q4. Not getting OTP

If any situation arises where you do not receive an OTP we request you to reinstall the app. In most cases, this has resolved the issue. If the issue persists, kindly mail us at [email protected] along with your handle and screen recording or screenshot, we will fix it., and we’ll ensure a quick resolution.

Q5. My app hangs while creating a Koo.
